About RACO Industrial Corporation

Raco Industrial Corporation was founded as a one man brokerage business in 1953 by Bob Atherton. In 1963, Raco moved to Elk Grove Village. We were the first machinery dealer in the area just west of O'Hare Airport, which has since become one of the largest international machinery distribution centers in the world. In 1976, we moved to our present location 1 1/2 miles immediately north of O'Hare. From here, we can serve our friends from near and far.

Since the days as a one-man brokerage business 50 years ago, Raco has grown to become one of America's largest dealers of late model used machine tools. Since the early 1960's, Raco has established strong relations with businesses in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and many other parts of the world. Bob Atherton opened our new machinery division in 1962. Today, Atherton Machinery Division is a distributor for over 35 lines of new machine tools and accessories.

Today, Raco Industrial Corporation builds on its legacy while moving forward with the latest technical advances to better serve our customers. Our executive team has decades of experience in the metalworking machinery industry.

Raco/Atherton has been a member of the Machinery Dealers National Association ( MDNA ) since 1958; the European Association of Machine Tool Merchants ( EAMTM ) since 1973; and is a long time member of the Illinois Manufacturing Association ( IMA ), American Machine Tool Distributors Association ( AMTDA ) and the Tooling and Manufacturing Association ( TMA ). Our staff is experienced in both import and export procedures and Swedish, French and Spanish speaking staff members are available for our international customers.

Raco Industrial Corporation & Atherton Machinery Division are world-wide dealers in new and pre-owned conventional and CNC metalworking machinery. We have over 1000 machines in stock in our 77,000 square foot heated warehouse conveniently located minutes from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. A representative from our multi-lingual sales staff can meet you at O'Hare to facilitate your visit. We are located in the industrial heartland of the U.S.A. and, as one of the world's largest machine tool distribution and shopping centers, we can service your needs for new and used hard to find machinery.

Our facilities and services include new and used machinery showrooms, certified appraisal and liquidation expertise, financing and trade-ins. We provide detailed specifications and photos. Videos of most machines are also available upon request. Most machines carry a 30-day return privilege, as defined in the MDNA Code of Ethics.
