4. Electrically Heated Strip Cleaning Zone with Non contact Spray System : A 5
ft. long x 4 ft. wide x 4 ft. high tank, made of engineered stainless steel
with a 300 gallon tank capacity and is used for strip preheating and cleaning.
The zone is designed to prevent any scratch marks on the material. Spray
Nozzles on both sides of the strips delivers, 75 gallons per minute at 20 PSI
of hot water at 180 Deg. F. The system can be used with non-foaming,
concentrated blends of surfactant chemicals that are environmentally safe to
use. The goal is to remove impurities from the surface as thoroughly and
efficiently as possible. A re -circulating closed loop arrangement will be
provided to spray nozzle system. An 18 KW electrical immersion heating system
with digital controls is installed for maintaining process temperature at 180
Deg. F. The system consists of 480V 3 phase NEMA 4 (Indoor/Outdoor Use, Water
& Dust Tight) with superior chemical resistance. It has rugged construction
with heavy wall metal sheaths. Watt densities are of 40 watts per square inch.
Nippon Instrument Digital Process temperature controller improves precise
process control. It has large switching capacities from 30 to 150 amps for 120
to 600 volts and adjustable temperature range from -40 Deg. F (-40 Deg. C) to
999 Deg. F (538 Deg. C). The AMT Stainless Steel Straight Centrifugal pump
designed for continuous duty high flow and high pressure application,
requiring contaminant free pumping is used to spray hot alkaline detergent. It
is constructed of rugged deep drawn Stainless Steel for durability and
corrosion resistance. It has Investment Cast Stainless Steel closed impellers
for enhanced performance and high efficiencies. It includes Viton Type 21
mechanical seals and O-rings which offer a broad range of chemical
compatibility. Cast Iron motor adapter provides a positive and rigid mounting
to motor. Maximum Working Pressure 150 PSI, Maximum Temperature 200 Deg. F and
Maximum Flow 75 GPM.

heavy duty construction for maximum durability (Brass head with 304L Stainless
Steel body). It accepts Double Open End (DOE) cartridges (Internal O-ring)
with 1" in-line connection. Maximum operating Pressure of 300 psi (20.7 bar) @
200 Deg. F (93 Deg. C). Gasket is of Viton. It accepts DOE Cartridges with
Ring nut closure for quick cartridge change outs.
6. Oil Water Separation Filters System. This consists of fabricated housing of
T 304 stainless steel. The oil water separator's separation chamber shall
contain HD Q-PACr coalescing media, manufactured by Lantec Products, Inc.,
having a minimum of 132 square feet per cubic foot of effective coalescing
surface.
7. Rinse Tank: This is identical to the cleaning tank with all accessories as
described.
8. Air Knife Strip Drying System: A hot airstrip drying system has been
provided to thoroughly dry both the surfaces and edges. It uses AIR KNIFE
technology to quickly and thoroughly dry the strip so as to prevent streaking.
Air used is filtered.
9. Auto Edge Guide System with Hydraulic Cylinder and Power Pack. The lateral
movement of the Recoiler is controlled by an Automatic Opto-Hydraulic Edge
Guide System to avoid telescopic winding of coils on the Recoiler. The edge
guide system mainly consists of Sensor, Digital Amplifier, Electro hydraulic
power unit, Servo center and a Hydraulic cylinder. Banner SLM80P6Q is an easy-
to-use, self-contained, opposed-mode sensor pair in a U-shaped rugged, sealed,
die-cast metal housing, rated IEC IP67 (NEMA 6). It has fast 500-microsecond
response time with single-turn potentiometer Sensitivity adjustment. Feedback
is given to PLC/Drive and then to hydraulic solenoid valve/cylinder to move
recoiler base to align the coil in straight path onto recoiler path.
10. Tension control System with Deflector roll: Next a set of Deflector Rolls
are provided, supported by roll bearing. The diameter of the Rolls is 3" and
it is a tubular construction mounted on bearing blocks on anti-friction
bearings. The barrel of the roll is grounded and Hard Chrome Plated. This is
used to give the tension feedback between the Uncoiler and Recoiler. Tension
is controlled by measuring the coil diameter and line speeds to control wrap
tension precisely and permanently to allow for a reliable production process
and a continuously high product quality. The signals have a high zero point
constancy. The PLC/Drive compares the reference value to compute the tension.

Description: It is used to wind the strip coming from cleaning line into a
coil form and is designed for under winding. The capacity of the Recoiler is
5,000 lbs. and driven by a 25 HP DC motor through a geared coupling and
reduction gearbox. This unit consists of a fixed base, movable housing,
Mandrel shaft assembly and a pusher plate. Movable housing is mounted on the
fixed frame on machined lubricated guide ways with replaceable wear strips.
Fixed base is grouted on foundation. The actuation of the mandrel head
expansion and collapse will be by hydraulically operated mechanism from the
front side of the head assembly. The Mandrel head will be of four-segment
wedge type assembly. The segments are attached to the sliding sleeve through a
series of interlocking machined wedge surfaces. The segments will be
restrained from sliding sleeve by a flange on the mandrel through a wear
strip. A pneumatically operated Pusher Plate is provided to unload the coils
from the Mandrel Head. The lateral movement of the Recoiler is controlled by
an Automatic Opto-Hydraulic Edge Guide System to avoid telescopic winding of
coils on the Recoiler. The edge guide system mainly consists of Infrared
Sensor, Digital Amplifier, Electro hydraulic power unit, Servo center and a
Hydraulic cylinder.

12. ELECTRICAL CONTROLS:
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM:
All drives are driven by AC/DC Motors. The DC motors are controlled by 4-
quadrant reversible Digital DC drives of SIEMENS make. The speed is varied by
Armature voltage control provided by reversible thyristors. The DC drives have
field thyristors to supply field voltage. Communicating chokes are provided
for both field and armature circuits to protect the thyristors from current
surges. Semi conductor fuses are provided for both field and armature circuits
to protect the thyristors from over load and short circuits. Another critical
requirement is to maintain constant tension before the Recoiler irrespective
of diameter build up. This tension is in the order of 40 - 400 lbs. Load Cell
is installed before Recoiler to give a feedback of Recoiler tension. The Load
Cells will give 4 - 20 ma proportional to the tension. Recoiler is used as a
master drive and the line speed reference will be generated from Recoiler
drive and the other drives will follow the increase or decrease of recoiler
speed. It will be in tension/speed mode and the Uncoiler will be in Tension
mode. The drive is provided with additional technology controller to achieve
tension control. The operator will set the tension. Load Cell monitors the
tension between Uncoiler and Recoiler and gives feedback of actual tension.
GENERAL:
The recoiler is taken as master and other drives are taken as slaves.
Recoiler reference is used as line reference and increase / decrease of speed
of other drives will follow the change in its speed.
All drives are connected through USS interface card via profibus.
All drives will have inching facility in both directions.
Line speed will be increased or decreased through push button or selector
switch.
Two separate control posts are provided at entry and exit of cleaning line.
The drives at the entry section will be controlled by entry control post and
the drives at the exit will be controlled by exit control post. Emergency stop
is provided at both control posts to stop the line.
