Description of Offer
The owners stopped using the line 3 years ago and closed the factory. It was a
possibility at that time to mothball the plant and re-start it at some time in
the future. They have now decided not to re-open as they import all their
required profiles. The owners used the line to produce high quality profiles
for the shower cabinet market, most for their own use but also selling profile
to other shower cabinet manufacturers.
Main alloys used:
In 2008 there was a fire and the insurance paid out to replace all of the
electrics and electronics.
All positional measurements are via linear transducers with encoders.
In 2009 SMS rebuilt the press with new columns (laminated). Also the container
slideways and moving crosshead were replaced / refurbished.
As the line has been unused for 3 years, there is surface rust on some
surfaces, but this is cosmetic only and is not deep seated.
The press has a conventional two position die slide, the hydraulic unit
(immersed Rexroth pumps) is mounted above the press, the puller is cable
driven (SMS) and the profile cut off is by
flying shear (SMS) Stretcher (SMS) is automatic in operation with the profile
carry over arms (belt type) automatically retracting/extending to match moving
There are overhead cooling fans on the initial run out table and a further 21
further down the main profile run out in addition there are under cooling bed
floor mounted fans.
All profile transport is by belts.
The finishing saw (SMS) is automatic in operation.
Single puller by SMS (Cable driven) with variable speed DC motor
2 x electric top opening die ovens
The supplier of the fixed dummy blocks was Castool.
TV cameras and monitors
The hole through the platen is as per above shown shape / dimensions.
There is a good spares holding and some bolsters / backers but no dies. There
are 2 containers, one in the press and one spare.
It is not possible to see the press moving as the main electrical supply has
However, the press, in our opinion, is good and certainly produced high
quality profiles to the then market leader owners. It is not pretended that
the press is "state of the art" for 2013 but it was made by an acknowledged
world leader of extrusion presses, was well looked after from being supplied
new in 1990 until its closure in 2010 and it does carry our recommendation
that anyone looking for a realistically priced 6" line should give this line
their serious consideration.
